Grand Bahama International Airport (FPO): - Approximate driving time is 10 minutes and distance is 7 miles.

Driving directions from Grand Bahama International Airport: Out of the airport, take Mall Dr. south to a roundabout and turn left onto Sunrise Hwy. Continue east on Sunrise to a second roundabout and turn onto Seahorse Rd. Continue to Midshipman Rd, turn left onto Midshipman, and follow the signs to the hotel.

Getting there: There is no public shuttle so the easiest way is by taxi. Fare for up to 2 passengers is $16–$25 USD plus $3 USD per additional passenger. Rental cars and limousines are more than $36 USD. Fees are subject to change without notice. Rental cars are available online.

Getting around: Taxis are the most convenient way to get around and preferable to a rental car for those unaccustomed to the British style of driving on the left or to roundabouts. But several other ways to see the area are popular and available at the hotel: bikes (complimentary); scooters and electric cars (both rent for more than $36 USD a day); and public buses, which stop in front of the hotel and allow travel between the downtown area, International Bazaar, and Port Lucaya Marketplace (fares are less than $5 USD.) Fees subject to change without notice. A free government-owned ferry travels daily between Sweeting’s Cay and McLean’s Town. Island-hopping is possible through the mailboats which run weekly from Freeport Harbour to Nassau although they operate on “Bahamas time,” so passage may be slow, and boats may carry chickens, produce, and other cargo. Fares to Nassau are more than $36 USD return. Fees subject to change without notice.

    AMENITIES & SERVICES
What to expect: Set on a wide beach sloping into the turquoise Atlantic Ocean, Viva Fortuna offers relaxation and fun for families and couples. Swimsuits predominate until evening, but attire doesn't get much more formal at any hour. Guests sunbathe on the beach, kayak and snorkel in the clear ocean water, and snooze beneath thatched canopies. After dark, the hotel staff presents live entertainment.

Amenity highlights: The resort is located along a 1,200-foot beach of nearly white sand, with a coral reef just off shore. Daytime activities such as water aerobics, merengue lessons, and bingo are organized around a 120-by-50-foot pool surrounded by a spacious sundeck, lounge chairs, and umbrella tables. A large spa tub is nearby. Complimentary supervised activities and a playground are offered for children aged 4-12.

Insider tip: Every Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday, locals and visitors gather at a different location on Grand Bahama for a traditional Bahamian fish fry, music, and dancing. The best way to get to these festivals is by taxi—a group of resort guests can split the fare.

The resort has one beachside swimming pool with sundeck and poolside bar providing cool drinks to sunbathers. Another bar serves guests on the beach. The All-Inclusive Plan includes use of a fitness center, sauna, and children's activity program. Off the lobby are a sundries and gift shop, liquor store, and clothing boutique. The hotel has a computer center with dial-up Internet access (fee). The theater and disco are open every night for live entertainment and dancing.
